Work Shadowing Scheme

The work shadowing programme is offered as a means of nurturing the future leadership of our schools.

The scheme is open to all members of staff in GSA schools aspiring to a leadership or management role. For further information or an initial discussion about the scheme please contact Jane Carroll, (janecarroll@gsa.uk.com or tel: 0116 254 1619).

The aim of the scheme is to offer opportunities to:

  • focus on a new role – leaving your existing role behind
  • see a different leadership and management style
  • observe the issues and challenges within another school community
  • reflect on your own skills

It is anticipated the programme will provide participants an opportunity to reflect on the ethos of senior leadership, the competencies required and the freedom the role brings whilst not ignoring the challenges.

This experience is more than a ‘day in the life of’.

Formal application should be made on the appropriate form and include a letter of support from your Head together with their signature on the application form. Applicants are also asked to provide a copy of their curriculum vitae as part of the supporting documentation. It is helpful if you could indicate on the application form, a summary of the aims and focus for your visit, together with an indication of the type of school you would prefer to host your placement.
