ISC census shows fall in independent school pupils

The number of children in private schools fell this year as parents turned to state education in the recession.

Widespread coverage has been appearing over the last few days regarding the ISC annual census. The following areas being the most widely covered:

  • the fall in pupil numbers
  • the rise in the number of overseas pupils
  • the rise in fees
  • the drop in four-year-olds starting in their reception year
